Chronic pain relief in Acworth, GA
Acworth is home base for this practice, and it is where most of the people I work with first reach out. They tend to arrive after months or years of trying to push through pain that never fully lets go — the kind that quietly reshapes how you sit, sleep, lift, and move through an ordinary day.
My approach is somatic education built on neuromuscular re-education. Rather than treating the painful spot in isolation, we work with the nervous system that is producing the holding pattern in the first place, drawing on applied neurology to give the brain better information about the muscles it has been over-guarding.
A different starting point
Most pain care begins by asking what is wrong with the tissue. This work begins by asking what the nervous system has learned to do. When a muscle has been held in protective contraction for a long time, you eventually lose the ability to feel and release it voluntarily — a state known as Sensory-Motor Amnesia. The good news is that what was learned can be unlearned.
Who tends to benefit
Acworth-area clients often come in with long-standing tension they had been told to simply live with: a back that locks up by mid-afternoon, shoulders that never come down, a jaw that aches from years of bracing. Through slow, attentive, voluntary movement, they relearn how to release those muscles and keep them released.
